BREAKING: Snoop Lion to Perform in South Africa | MTV Africa All Stars

MTV Base and the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government have joined forces to bring the city of Durban an MTV Africa All Stars show spectacular like they’ve never seen before.

Come the 18th of May, acts from all over the continent will converge at the glorious Moses Mabhida Stadium for a night of good vibes and beautiful music.

Headlining the event will be controversial Grammy award-winning rapper Snoop Lion. The Reincarnated artist, formerly known as Snoop Dogg, took to Twitter to announce his involvement in the event.

Speaking recently in a statement, Lion had this to say about his partaking in the event:

I’m honoured to bring this important message of peace and love to South Africa. This is the motherland and a place of so much history and strife. I hope that this concert reminds us it is also a place of joy, love, celebration and peace – which is very much in line with where I am as an artist right now. I want to thank all the incredible artists joining me and props to MTV for sharing this important moment with the world.

‘Motherland’? Really? Eh. Meanwhile, Alex Okosi, Senior Vice President & Managing Director, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa (the network that runs MTV Base) had this to say:

As one of hip hop’s most influential artists, we are delighted that Snoop Lion will be headlining the MTV Africa All Stars concert in Durban in May.

Details on ticket sales and all the other acts on the performance bill are to be announced in the coming weeks. We’ll bring you the details as we learn them.
