NEW: Icona Pop Sample Jay-Z, Beyoncé’s “’03 Bonnie & Clyde” for “Girlfriend” | Listen

This Swedish pop duo are gaining momentum globally and are well on their way to becoming a household duo. But if Icona Pop are going to make their mark on the map of music, why not cover an iconic song to get folk to listen?

The classic “’03 Bonnie & Clyde” that Jay and Bey cut a decade ago now, is definitely a song that will remain etched in our musical memory. Everyone sang along to this song! Everyone! It’s just that kind of single you want to slow jam to with the one you love (or your imaginary love). Icona Pop borrow one lyric from the song to add to their new single, “Girlfriend” and let’s not kid ourselves, if you were them, you’d also pick, “All I need in this life of sin / Is me and my girlfriend”. Not only does it work for their song, but it also arouses a warm nostalgia of Jay-Z spitting it like the hip hop bawss he is! Listen to the full Icona Pop, “Girlfriend” here.

Now you know we had to do it! This is truly one of my favourite songs of all time, so as a bonus and a treat, here’s the “’03 Bonnie & Clyde”, Hov’ and Bey. Holla!
