Mack Wilds talks new album, growing up around Method Man, Raekwon and a musical family.
Diddy has unintentionally set a trend in motion it seems. Notorious for his constant name changes, Snoop Lion followed suit last year and now Tristan Wilds. You may remember him from The Wire and 90210 but from now on – or at least in music circles – it’s Mack Wilds to you. In case you didn’t know, it happens to be one of his three first names. He sits down with Global Grind to talk about his new album, New York: A Love Story and its inception. Expect writing credits in the CD sleeve to the tune of James Fauntleroy, Ne-Yo and Rico Love. Can you say, ‘hit record(s)’! In terms of album features, Mack talks about growing up around Raekwon and Method Man and how it was natural to get them on his new record. His dad was a barber and also musical, and so raised his family around music and teaching them how to sing. No surprises then that musicians would make their way to his barber shop. And aren’t we glad they did – this already sounds like it’s going to be an album to remember.
We’ll be keeping an eye on Mack so check back soon for all his new music updates. And speaking about checking back, we’re going to have to dethrone Diddy as Name Changer Trendsetter. There was The Artist Formerly Known As Prince, remember?
