Simphiwe Dana has come to her rite of passage to the US.
On the 5th of July, fans, festival goers and iconic artists such Maxwell and Jill Scott were serenaded by the soulful sounds of Simphiwe Dana. The “Bantu Biko Street” singer performed a stunning set at this year’s Essence Festival as part of her US tour. This follows on from Simphiwe’s decision to crossover into the US market as the next logical progression in her nomadic journey as an artist. She’s currently wrapping her forthcoming EP, produced by Om’mas Keith of hip hop group, Sa-Ra, who also scored production credits for the Grammy award-winning channel ORANGE by Frank Ocean. From the sounds of it, it’s about to a mega year for Dana.
