Beyoncé inspires an ailing Detroit with a Sam Cooke classic.
The first time we saw Beyoncé perform the Sam Cooke Civil Rights Movement anthem was during her performance set for Sound of Change Live. For her latest Mrs Carter Show World Tour stop at The Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit, she performed “A Change is Gonna Come” again in an inspiring attempt to uplift the spirits of its people. This follows Detroit’s recent filing for bankruptcy after the city found itself in the region of $18-20 billion in debt, the largest ever recorded in US history. During the performance set images of Sam Cooke, Anita Baker, Aaliyah, Eminem and other inspiring artists were projected behind Bey.
We wish Detroit and its people well.
