Pusha T talks fashion dos and don’ts and why he’s got the album of the year. Yugh!
More than any genre today, hip hop is a culture. Part of this culture is how you look and a lot of rappers today are aware of this; Pusha T no less. He recently dropped his Play Cloths Fall 2013 collection and took the time out to chat to Pepsi about it. He shares his feelings on what he calls “hip hop gothic” – the old dark, baggy look that was popularized in the late 70s: “You should be able to play basketball in everything that you’re wearing”, says the young rapper who believes that your clothes should always fit you.
But it isn’t just about the outside. Just because he doesn’t want to dress like a bad rapper, doesn’t mean he’s neglecting the rapping itself. My Name is My Name scores production credits from The Neptunes, Kanye West, Swizz Beats and Joaquin Phoenix and features Rick Ross, Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, Pharrell and more. By Pusha T’s estimation: “the album of the year”.
