Suzanne Vega is coming to Cape Town and Johannesburg.
Known as the forerunner of the folk music revival, Suzanne Vega will be touring South Africa for a prestigious two nights only. Her sound has been described as neo-folk stemming from her acoustic days where she would play guitar in various music clubs. You will know her from her hit singles “Luka” and “Tim’s Diner”, which will both form part of her sets in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
The sensational singer/songwriter, Nakhane Touré gives an account of his headlining act:
Quite some time ago, my best friend was playing a song I recognised, but at that moment couldn’t name. It was “Zephyr & I” from Suzanne Vega’s Beauty & Crime album. I was stopped in my tracks: that voice, the propulsive drums. We often spoken about how her songwriting is pure genius…Never in a million years did I think that I would one day share a stage with a musician of her stature. I am stunned and incredibly excited. She is a gem. The wait is torturous.
We’ve been tracking Touré’s rise from introspective EPK to his highly acclaimed debut album and it’s clear the fairytale has only just begun. Touré will be touring the country with Vega as her supporting act. This promises to be quite an exceptional night of good vibrations.
