JT takes a low blow in new single.
The second of Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience 2 of 2 singles is here and we’re a lot more indifferent than we are excited. Both The 20/20 Experience and Jay-Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail have been criticised for being sonically monotonous, with the blame falling on Timbaland for sole proprietary on production. Albeit the case that Timbo had the most influential hand on both albums, neither of them sounded monotonous but rather, and more importantly, showcased a producer who had grown over the years. “TKO” does not.
Take the new single and slot it in anywhere on FutureSex/LoveSounds and no one will think twice. Every Timbaland signature of 2006 is reincarnated in “TKO”, which talks about Justin sustaining low blows from an ex. We’re weary that perhaps this second installment of his best effort, The 20/20 Experience, was a rushed job. Of course, if you’re still into 2006, then perhaps this album might do as well as its predecessor.
