17 year old British artist, Jasmine van den Bogaerde, also known by her stage name, Birdy, has just released her second album Fire Within, this week. She released her self-entitled debut album of covers in 2011. It featured records like Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love” and The xx’s “Shelter”, and broke her out as an artist to watch.
After gaining momentum from her debut album, she was approached to write original music for some of the biggest movies of the past few years. She penned a song called “Just A Game” for The Hunger Games soundtrack and also wrote “Learn Me Right” featuring Mumford and Sons for the Brave soundtrack.
Earlier this year, she announced the release of her long-awaited full length album of original material titled Fire Within. The firt two singles off the album were “Wings” and “All You Never Say”, which dealt with issues of freedom and unrequited love.
From listening to the material off this new album we can tell that Birdy has really begun to come into her own as an artist and carve her own lane in the music industry.
